When you hear people talking about the last seven trumpets there are a few ideas as to when they are. I would like to look at what the Bible tells us about them and see if we can discern as to when they will happen and to see if there is a relationship with or between the trumpets and the viles of wrath. There seems to be a correlation between the seven trumpets and the viles, and I would like to look at it and at the same time see when this should happen.
To see the correlation between them we will look at the sixth trumpet and the sixth vile. The sixth angel sounds his trumpet Revelations 9: 13-21 and is told to loose the four angels that are bound in the Euphrates River. These angels are prepared to kill the third part of men – and the size of the army is two hundred million. Now we look at the sixth vile Revelations 16: 12-16, the sixth angel pours out his vile upon the Euphrates River and the waters dry up to let the way for kings of the east might be prepared. Here we see that an army of two hundred million could not come into the Middle East if the Euphrates River was running, they would be stalled there at the river and could be destroyed. Therefore the river has to be dried up, and will be as per vile six. As this relationship is there we can assume that the others trumpets and viles relate.
Let us now look at when the first trumpet will sound and the first vile is poured out. When the first vile is poured out Revelations 16:2, there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast and upon them which worshipped his image. Therefore the antichrist has to be in power or no one would be worshipping him, or have his unholy number on themselves. When you look at Revelations 13:1-5 you see that the antichrist is only one of ten leaders that unite to form an alliance. This tells us that one of the heads was wounded but was healed, and that all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast, and they worshipped the beast, and the beast was given power to continue for forty two months.
These forty two months cannot be the first of the seven years of tribulation, as the first forty two months has the Israelites worshipping in the temple and following God with sacrifices. The sacrifices are not stopped until Daniel 9:27 midway through the week, which will be three and a half years into the tribulation. Therefore we can deduct that the beast’s reign will be in the last forty two months of the tribulation. This leaves us to conclude that the mark of the beast will not be on anyone until the antichrist is in power which will be midway through the tribulation. Revelation 11:2 tells us that the holy city will be tread underfoot by the Gentiles for forty two months which coincides with the prophecy of the antichrist stopping the daily sacrifices and ruling for that amount of time.
Let’s now look at when the seventh trumpet – the last trumpet should sound. If you read Daniel 12:11-12 you will see that the timetable for Christ’s return starts with the daily sacrifice being taken away. Then Daniel 9:27 tells us the daily sacrifice is taken away in the middle of the week. We also know that Elijah will be on earth prior to Christ’s return as Malachi 4:5 tells us that the Lord is going to send Elijah the prophet back to us before the day of the Lord.
From the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, until the abomination that makes desolate is set up, is one thousand two hundred and ninety days Daniel 12:11. From the time the daily sacrifice is taken away until we are blessed, is one thousand three hundred and thirty five days Daniel 12:11-12. Now you say “who is to be blessed”? There are only two peoples that are waiting for Christ that are going to be blessed, those two groups are Christians and Jews. Christians because we are to be raised up to be with Christ, and the Jews because they will have their King of Kings who will lead them and the world on earth.
This then puts the seventh trumpet at one thousand three hundred thirty five days from the middle of the tribulation.
When we look at the sixth trumpet , you will see that when the trumpet sounds, four angels are loosed that are in the Euphrates River Revelations 9:13-21. They are prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year to slay a third part of men. A year in revelations is 360 days, a month is 30 days therefore when we add this time up it comes to 391 days and 1 hour. The sixth trumpet will sound 391 days and 1 hour before the seventh trumpet which will be 943 days and 23 hours after the daily sacrifice is taken away. The fifth trumpet sounds and the abyss is opened up and smoke pours out as if it was a large furnace, and there is enough smoke to darken the sun and the air. Now from the smoke, locusts come down, and these locusts have the power of scorpions. The only thing they are allowed to harm are those that do not have the mark of God on their foreheads , but they cannot kill them – only torture them for five months . The torment will be so bad they will want to die but will not be allowed to Revelations 9:1-11 This then puts the fifth trumpet five months before the sixth trumpet.
We now know when the first, fifth, sixth ,and seventh trumpets are to sound. There are no time settings for the second ,third, and fourth trumpets, but we know they are between the first, and fifth trumpets.
Let us now look at these events. The first trumpet sounds Revelations 8:7 Hail and fire mixed with blood are thrown upon the earth which causes a third of the trees and all the green grass to be burnt up. The first vial was poured out Revelations 16:2. When this happens the men with the mark of the beast and those that worshipped him received grievous sores. Then the second trumpet sounds Revelations 8:8-9 something like a burning mountain is thrown into the sea ,and a third part of the sea became blood and a third of the creatures that lived in the sea died and a third of the ships were destroyed. The second vial is poured out Revelations 16:3 It’s poured on the sea and the sea becomes as the blood of a dead man and every living soul dies in the sea. Now the third trumpet sounds Revelations 8:10-11 a great burning star falls upon a third of the rivers and all the fountains of waters. The star is called Wormwood and a third of the water turns to wormwood and many men die because the water turns bitter. The third angel pours out his vial Revelations 16: 4-7 it is poured upon the rivers and fountains of water and they become blood. Then the angel tells God that he is righteous, then he praises God saying He was and is and will always be , and that he is righteous because he judged thus. The forth trumpet sounds Revelations 8:12 this one affects the light as a third part of the sun, moon and stars are smitten so that a third part of them was darkened that a third part of the day and the night had no light. Then the fourth angel poured out his vial Revelations 16:8-9 this vial is poured onto the sun, and power was given to that angel to scorch men with fire. Men were scorched with heat ,and blasphemed God and had no intention of asking for forgiveness for their sins and will not worship God.
Now there is a pause as we are given a warning Revelations 8:13 Woe, woe, woe to the inhabiters of the earth because of the other three trumpets that are yet to come.
Above you see what happens when the fifth trumpet sounds. Now see what happens when the fifth vial is poured out Revelations 16:10-11 this vial is poured on the seat of the beast, this caused his kingdom to go into darkness , and his followers gnawed their tongues in pain, and instead of repenting of their deeds they again blasphemed God because of their pains and sores. The sixth angel sounds his trumpet Revelations 9:13-21 the four angels that are bound in the river Euphrates are released and they are prepared to slay a third of men, and the size of the army is two hundred million. In this vision of John’s , he saw the horses of this army and they looked like they had heads of lions and out of their mouths issued fire, smoke ,and brimstone, and by these three items a third of men was killed. Still those that were not killed refused to repent of their sins. The sixth angel pours out his vial Revelations 16:12-14 it is poured on the river Euphrates and the river dries up. This lets the armies of the kings of the east to come to Armageddon. At this time three unclean spirits are released from the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet. These spirits gather all the kings of the earth, and the whole world together at Armageddon for the battle of the great day of God Almighty. The last trumpet is the seventh Revelations 11:15-19. When this trumpet sounds there are great voices in heaven saying ” THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD ARE BECOME THE KINGDOMS OF OUR LORD, AND OF HIS CHRIST AND HE SHALL REIGN FOR EVER AND EVER”. Then the twenty-four elders that sit before God fell upon their faces and worshiped God. saying “We give Thee thanks O Lord God Almighty, which art and wast; and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. What this says is that God has taken over rule of our world. When this happens the nations of the world get angry because God’s wrath has come to those that destroy the earth, and the prophets and saints and those that fear God, are rewarded. Then the temple of God was opened in heaven and seen in the temple was the ark of his testament, and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake and great hail. When the seventh vile is poured out into the air Revelations 16: 17-21, there is a great voice out of the temple in heaven, from the throne saying “It is done.” Now you see that as with the seventh trumpet there are voices and thunders, and lightnings; and there is a great earthquake such as was not seen since man was upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake and so great. Then it tells what this quake does; the great city was divided into three parts, the other cities of the world fall, but Babylon is remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away and the mountains were not found, and there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent. Now again men blasphemed God because of the hail, for the plague was exceedingly great. Again you see mankind refuse to worship God but willing to blaspheme Him.
Through all these trumpets and viles of wrath, men know that it is God causing them and still will not ask for forgiveness and turn to God for their salvation. Men continue in their evil ways and continue to blaspheme God. At this time I would ask you to pray for these men and ask that they turn to God in worship, as God would not have any parish. God would save them all if they would only come to him in the name of His son Jesus, who died on the cross and accepted all our sins. , His death was the only way that allowed our sins to be forgiven, as He was the pure and sinless sacrifice that would allow our sins to be forgiven by God Almighty. God loves us so much that He let the Christ be sacrificed on the cross to atone for our sins not His, as he was sinless. 2 Peter 3:8-10 Here Peter tells us that a day to the Lord is a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. He also tells us that God does not want any man to perish but that they should come to repentance.
When will the rapture be?
Some say that it will be before the tribulation, that Christ will come like a thief in the night and take the church. Others state that the rapture will take place midway through the tribulation, and some say it will take place after the tribulation.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54, that at the last trump the rapture will happen. “For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we will be changed”. Paul tells us that the corruptible [dead], have to put on incorruption, and the mortal must put on immortality. In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Paul tells us that the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the arch-angel, and the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we that remain will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord.
There are certain passages that the pre-tribulationists and mid-tribulationists seem to ignore. First they tell you that the last trumpet is not the seventh trumpet in Revelations. Then they ignore the passage that tells us that Elijah will return before Christ‘s return (Malachi 4:5). They also ignore the passage in Daniel 12:12 where it states those that wait one thousand three hundred and thirty five days after the daily sacrifice is taken away, will be blessed. Then again they ignore the passage that tells us that when you see the Abomination of Desolation stand in the holy place “let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house….. Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes” (Matthew 24:15-22). These are all signs of Christ’s return.
To pinpoint Christ’s return you must read Matthew 24:15-22. Vs 15 “When ye therefore shall see the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth let him understand).” Vs 16 “Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains”. Vs 17 “Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house”. Vs 18 “Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes”. Vs 19 “And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!” Vs 20 “But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day”. Vs 21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be”. Vs 22 “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” This is again stated in Mark 13:14-20.
When is Elijah coming back to earth? He and Enoch will be on earth during the tribulation (Revelation 11:2-14), therefore Christ’s return will be after that period. Then Revelation 11:14-19 tells us that after the two witnesses are killed and raised to heaven, the seventh trumpet sounds. In Revelation 7:9-17 it tells of the numberless multitude of all nations that died in the tribulation and are before the throne and before the Lamb clothed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. Again we see that these must have been raptured after the tribulation.
When is this last trumpet? As those that are killed for Christ during the tribulation are seen before the throne of God, they will have to be raptured after the tribulation. Then we also know that the Abomination of Desolation is placed in the Holy place after the tribulation. We also know that those in Judea are told to flee to the mountains, and those on the housetops not to come down, and those in the field not to go for their clothes. The reason for this is told to us in Matthew 24:29-31, where it tells us that this is when he will gather his elect from the four winds and from one end of heaven to the other.
The only conclusion this leaves us with is that the seventh trumpet is in fact the last trumpet and that it is the time of the rapture, which is AFTER the great tribulation.
