When will the rapture be?
Some say that it will be before the tribulation, that Christ will come like a thief in the night and take the church. Others state that the rapture will take place midway through the tribulation, and some say it will take place after the tribulation.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:51-54, that at the last trump the rapture will happen. “For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we will be changed”. Paul tells us that the corruptible [dead], have to put on incorruption, and the mortal must put on immortality. In 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Paul tells us that the Lord shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the arch-angel, and the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we that remain will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord.
There are certain passages that the pre-tribulationists and mid-tribulationists seem to ignore. First they tell you that the last trumpet is not the seventh trumpet in Revelations. Then they ignore the passage that tells us that Elijah will return before Christ‘s return (Malachi 4:5). They also ignore the passage in Daniel 12:12 where it states those that wait one thousand three hundred and thirty five days after the daily sacrifice is taken away, will be blessed. Then again they ignore the passage that tells us that when you see the Abomination of Desolation stand in the holy place “let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house….. Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes” (Matthew 24:15-22). These are all signs of Christ’s return.
To pinpoint Christ’s return you must read Matthew 24:15-22. Vs 15 “When ye therefore shall see the Abomination of Desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth let him understand).” Vs 16 “Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains”. Vs 17 “Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house”. Vs 18 “Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes”. Vs 19 “And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!” Vs 20 “But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day”. Vs 21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be”. Vs 22 “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.” This is again stated in Mark 13:14-20.
When is Elijah coming back to earth? He and Enoch will be on earth during the tribulation (Revelation 11:2-14), therefore Christ’s return will be after that period. Then Revelation 11:14-19 tells us that after the two witnesses are killed and raised to heaven, the seventh trumpet sounds. In Revelation 7:9-17 it tells of the numberless multitude of all nations that died in the tribulation and are before the throne and before the Lamb clothed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. Again we see that these must have been raptured after the tribulation.
When is this last trumpet? As those that are killed for Christ during the tribulation are seen before the throne of God, they will have to be raptured after the tribulation. Then we also know that the Abomination of Desolation is placed in the Holy place after the tribulation. We also know that those in Judea are told to flee to the mountains, and those on the housetops not to come down, and those in the field not to go for their clothes. The reason for this is told to us in Matthew 24:29-31, where it tells us that this is when he will gather his elect from the four winds and from one end of heaven to the other.
The only conclusion this leaves us with is that the seventh trumpet is in fact the last trumpet and that it is the time of the rapture, which is AFTER the great tribulation.
